In-Spectres

Concerned with a sharp rise of popularity for the paranormal, the documentary studies the lives and activities of those who hold both professional and casual belief systems surrounding supernatural activity. The short predominantly absorbs itself with the life and activities of Craig Longson at the ‘Haunted Museum and Spirit Shop’ in Stoke, analysing the curious nature of his activities through a range of captured experiences and interview responses. Married with the opinions of pub goers in The Grape Hotel, the documentary presents a varied range of viewpoints through real experiences and conversations.

PRODUCTION STATEMENT:

As a cohort, we are fascinated with the vast amount of people living their lives through the lens of the late 1990's and early 200's, not only by form of place and habit, but also by abnormal and, sometimes outdated, activities. Within this category, there are many who remain to concern themselves with acknowledgement of supernatural speculation. As science has advanced and society has reformed, our work forensically examines those who carry out paranormal activity in order to produce an intriguing, and sometimes comedic, documentary through which audiences can consider their own responses to a diverse range of beliefs. By the removal of the excessively used "talking heads" technique, the film aims to present the subjects as real people with juxtaposing opinions, aiming to stimulate more personal and thoughtful stories.
